Laser Tattoo Removal- Aftercare
To ensure your skin heals safely and beautifully, please read through your aftercare carefully and follow all guidance provided below. Proper aftercare is key to achieving the best results and avoiding irritation or scarring.
💎 Immediately After Your Treatment
You may notice one or more of the following — all are normal responses:
✨ Frosting (a white, raised appearance on the skin) — this will subside within a few hours.
✨ Tiny pin-prick bleeding or light swelling.
✨ Redness or sensitivity around the treated area.
✨ Bruising or mild itching as the skin begins to heal.
✨ Blistering — while uncommon, this can occur and is not a sign of scarring.
✨ A micro scab may form within 5 days — please do not pick this.
🌿 How to Care for Your Skin
-
Keep the treated area clean and dry.
-
Avoid touching, rubbing, or allowing others to touch the area — your skin needs around 24–48 hours to establish a protective barrier.
-
Do not pick or pull at any scabs, blisters, or dry skin. Picking can cause infection and lead to scarring.
-
You may use a cool pack to help with any redness, heat, or swelling — just ensure it’s wrapped in a clean cloth (never placed directly on the skin).
-
The best way to heal is to dry heal— avoid applying creams, gels, or ointments unless specifically advised.
☀️ Sun Protection
For 6 weeks post-treatment, keep your treated area completely out of direct sunlight.
If exposure is unavoidable, apply SPF 50 or higher daily once the skin has closed.
Unprotected UV exposure can cause pigmentation changes and delay healing.
⚠️ Important Notes
-
In almost all cases, scarring is caused by picking or touching the healing site — please resist the urge.
-
You may notice lightness (hypopigmentation) in the area — this usually resolves over time.
-
Any texture changes are often due to the original tattoo, not the laser process itself.
-
If you plan to have a cover-up tattoo, please wait at least 8 weeksafter your final session for the skin to fully heal.
🩺 If You Have Concerns
If you experience any of the following, please seek medical advice:
-
Increased redness, swelling, or spreading heat around the site.
-
Yellow discharge or oozing.
-
Feeling unwell or feverish.
If you suspect infection, contact your GP first, then notify the clinic afterwards.
